What is Amberscript?
Amberscript is a transcription service from Amberscript Global B.V. in Amsterdam, with a second office in Berlin. You upload audio or video and get an automatic transcript (about 90% accurate according to Amberscript) or subtitles within minutes, which you correct in an online editor. If you want more than 99% accuracy, you have the work checked by people at a price per minute. Dutch and Flemish are among the supported languages. For meetings, Amberscript has a separate app, Amber Notes, with its own subscription.
According to the pricing page, files are processed and stored on EU servers, and Amberscript is ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 certified. The privacy policy says data is never stored outside Europe, but also that some transcription partners are based outside the EU; that applies to the human services. Automatic transcripts are not used to train language models. You sign a data processing agreement on request through the helpdesk.
Good: clear prices per hour, monthly subscriptions you can cancel at any time and export to Word, TXT, JSON and CSV, plus subtitles in SRT or VTT. There is a Dutch-language helpdesk, a chatbot and an Amsterdam phone number for urgent questions during office hours.
Less good: unused hours expire at the end of the month. It is first and foremost a transcription service: summaries and action items from meetings are in Amber Notes, which you buy separately.
