What is Coosto?

Coosto is social media software from Coosto B.V. in Eindhoven, founded in 2008, with a second office in Alicante. You plan and publish posts from a content calendar (Publish), answer messages, comments and reviews in one inbox (Engage), follow what is said about your organisation online (Listen) and build reports (Report). Many customers are municipalities, housing associations, education and healthcare, but there are also packages for businesses.

According to the privacy statement, Coosto hosts the software and data on servers in Frankfurt, with Amazon Web Services. A few sub-processors are elsewhere: OpenAI (US) for the AI content generator, and optionally CM.com for messaging and TalkJS for live chat. Coosto calls itself a processor for what you do in Engage and Publish, but a data processing agreement is not publicly available on the site.

Good: scheduling, customer care and monitoring in one Dutch package, with Dutch-language support and an ISO 27001 certificate. You can also bring WhatsApp and website chat into the same inbox.

Less good: it is expensive for a small business: Essential costs from €249 per month and goes through a demo or quote, with no free trial on the site. Which social channels you can connect and what extra users cost is not on the pricing page.

The Netherlands check

Useful if you run a business in the Netherlands. "Unknown" means we could not verify it.

  • Support in Dutch: Yes

You would rather ask a question in Dutch, to someone who knows how things work in the Netherlands.

  • App in Dutch: Unknown

An app in Dutch is quicker to use and avoids mistakes, also for colleagues who read less English.

  • Data in the EU: Yes

A scheduler stores your posts, statistics and access to your accounts, and often customer messages from your inbox too. If that is in the EU, you have less to check about transfers.

  • Data processing agreement: Unknown

If you reply to comments and private messages through the tool, or manage accounts for clients, the vendor processes personal data for you and you need a data processing agreement.

More about the data processing agreement →
  • Company in the Netherlands: Yes

A Dutch company falls under Dutch law. For some businesses that matters, for example in a dispute.
