What is GreenPT?
GreenPT is an AI assistant from GreenPT BV in Utrecht. You chat with open models, upload documents to have them summarised or analysed and search the web; with every answer you see how much energy it used. Your subscription is a weekly energy budget rather than a number of messages: a short question costs little, a long document analysis more. When the budget runs out, the chat pauses until the week starts again, with no extra charges. For developers there is an API that works like OpenAI’s.
According to the privacy policy, all personal data is held in data centres in France and Finland (Scaleway and three Finnish hosting parties for the models), and GreenPT does not use your input to train models. Only if you choose the US API endpoint yourself are requests processed in the US. The data processing agreement is part of the terms and conditions; you can request a signed copy. According to GreenPT, the ISO 27001 certification belongs to hosting provider Scaleway; GreenPT itself is still working towards it.
Good: a low entry price, a trial without a credit card and a full list of sub-processors, all in the EU. You see what each answer cost in energy.
Less good: no free plan, and you work with open models instead of the well-known models from the large US providers. The pricing page does not say whether Teams is per user, and does not mention VAT.
