Importing into Laposta

  • Moving from Mailchimp

Laposta has its own guide: export your audience as CSV, create a new list and add the contacts. A tags column becomes labels. Templates and automations do not come along; you recreate them.

  • Contacts

Relaties > list > Toevoegen > Bestand importeren, as .xls, .xlsx or .csv (CSV recommended). Only the first sheet counts.

  • Unsubscribed addresses

Anyone already in the list as unsubscribed or cleaned is not imported again. To carry over unsubscribes, Laposta describes this order (for a move within Laposta): first import the unsubscribed contacts and unsubscribe them, then the active ones.

  • Sent campaigns

Laposta can export your sent Mailchimp campaigns for you as a ZIP, for €100 excl. VAT.

Not found on Laposta's website: a direct integration with Mailchimp; according to Laposta there is none. Ask them.

Step-by-step plan

  1. Export all your contacts from Mailchimp, including unsubscribed and cleaned addresses.

  2. Create your lists and fields in Laposta, so every column from the export has a place.

  3. Import the contacts and include the unsubscribes, so you do not email anyone who has already unsubscribed.

  4. Recreate your templates and automated emails in Laposta.

  5. Replace the sign-up forms on your site with those of Laposta.

  6. Sign the data processing agreement of Laposta before you import addresses.

  7. Only cancel Mailchimp once you are sending from Laposta and have saved your old reports.

Pitfalls

  • Unsubscribes

If you only import the active addresses, the new package does not know who has unsubscribed. With a later import you could then email those people again.

  • Templates and automations

Designs and automated emails rarely come along. Allow time to recreate them.

  • Forms on your site

An old sign-up form keeps sending addresses to the old package. Replace them all before you cancel.

  • Data processing agreement

Your mailing list contains personal data. Sign a data processing agreement with the new package. More about the data processing agreement →
