What is Loom?
Loom is a tool for short video messages from Atlassian (headquarters in Sydney). You record your screen and camera and share the video with a link; your viewers respond with comments. There are apps for Mac, Windows, iOS and Android and a Chrome extension. Loom makes transcripts in more than 50 languages, including Dutch.
Loom falls under Atlassian’s privacy policy and data processing agreement (Data Processing Addendum). Since 2026, when you create a new workspace you choose where your videos, comments and transcripts are stored: in Germany (Frankfurt) or the US. That is only possible when creating it; an existing workspace does not move along, and a limited part of account and usage data may be processed outside that region.
Good: quick to record and share, a usable free plan and the choice of EU storage.
Less good: prices in dollars only, and the free plan is tight. For EU storage you have to start a new workspace.

The Netherlands check
Useful if you run a business in the Netherlands. "Unknown" means we could not verify it.
Support in Dutch: Unknown
You would rather ask a question in Dutch, to someone who knows how things work in the Netherlands.
App in Dutch: Unknown
An app in Dutch is quicker to use and avoids mistakes, also for colleagues who read less English.
Data in the EU: Yes
A screen recording shows everything that was on your screen: emails, customer names, dashboards. If you share through the vendor's cloud, where those videos are stored matters.
More about data in the EU →Data processing agreement: Yes
If you record customer data and put the video in the tool's cloud, the vendor processes it for you and you need a data processing agreement. If everything stays local on your computer, that matters less.
More about the data processing agreement →Company in the Netherlands: No
A Dutch company falls under Dutch law. For some businesses that matters, for example in a dispute.
