Short verdict
Good fit for
Freelancers (zzp) and teams who want to track hours for free or cheaply and do not need much for invoicing.
Less suited to
Anyone who wants the app in Dutch or data in the EU by default; you only choose an EU region from Pro.
Key facts
- Free plan with unlimited time tracking
- Invoicing from Standard ($6.99 per user per month)
- Interface in five languages, Dutch is not one of them
What is Clockify?
Clockify is time tracking software from CAKE.com Inc. in Palo Alto (United States). You track hours with a timer or timesheet, set rates per project and, from the Standard plan, create invoices. By default your workspace is in the global region; from Pro the owner can choose an EU region (Germany), although account data such as name and email address stays outside that region even then. CAKE.com offers a data processing agreement (DPA).
Good: the free plan has no limit on the number of hours, and the paid plans are cheap.
Less good: the interface is available in English, French, German, Spanish and Portuguese, not in Dutch. We found no iDEAL payment link on invoices in Clockify’s sources.
