What is CodeRabbit?
CodeRabbit is an AI code review tool from CodeRabbit, Inc., an American company (the terms fall under Californian law). It reviews every pull request in GitHub or GitLab, places comments on lines of code and summarises the change. You can also discuss reviews in Slack and connect with Jira and Linear.
According to the privacy policy, the servers are in the US. For transfers from the EU, CodeRabbit names the standard contractual clauses, and there is a data processing agreement (Data Processing Addendum). CodeRabbit writes that it and OpenAI or Anthropic do not use personal data from code reviews to train models, with an exception for open-source projects. Enterprise can self-host or choose a region.
Good: free for public repositories and a 14-day trial on the paid plans. Works with GitHub and GitLab.
Less good: prices are in dollars and apply per user. An EU region or self-hosting is only possible with Enterprise, on request.
