Short verdict

Good fit for

Technical freelancers who want open-source invoicing, possibly self-hosted, with Mollie or Stripe for payments.

Less suited to

Anyone who wants Dutch-language support or certainty about EU storage; Invoice Ninja says nothing about that.

Key facts

  • Free plan up to 5 clients
  • Peppol only from Enterprise
  • Integrates with twenty payment providers, including Mollie

What is Invoice Ninja?

Invoice Ninja is open-source invoicing software from Invoice Ninja, LLC. You create quotes, invoices and recurring invoices with it, send reminders and let clients pay via one of the connected payment providers, including Mollie and Stripe; you can also self-host the software. The privacy statement names Cloudflare, OVH Cloud and Linode as hosting parties, but not where the data is stored. There is a Data Privacy Addendum (DPA).

Good: a free plan and the option to self-host, so you decide where the data is stored. E-invoices via Peppol are included in Enterprise.

Less good: prices in dollars only and no Dutch-language support mentioned. Automatic reminders are only in Pro.
