What is Lightspeed Retail?
Lightspeed Retail is the shop POS system of the Canadian Lightspeed Commerce, which operates in the Netherlands through Lightspeed Netherlands B.V. on the Haarlemmerweg in Amsterdam. You sell at the till, manage stock and purchase orders, and connect a built-in web shop and a loyalty programme. Lightspeed offers a data processing agreement; it states that the parent company is in Canada and that transfers outside the EEA go through the adequacy decision for Canada and standard contractual clauses. Where the data of Dutch customers is stored exactly, Lightspeed does not say: the subprocessor list names AWS and Google as hosting.
Good: all plans have 24/7 support via chat and phone, with a Dutch phone number.
Less good: the card payment fees are not on the site and you must buy the payment terminal from Lightspeed. The prices mentioned apply when using Lightspeed Payments.
