Key facts
- Free plan with 2,000 words per week
- Transcription always in the cloud, processing in the US
- Data processing agreement only with Enterprise
What is Wispr Flow?
Wispr Flow is a dictation app from Wispr AI, Inc. (US). You talk instead of typing, in any app on your Mac, Windows PC, iPhone or Android phone, and Flow removes filler words, adds punctuation and learns names and technical terms. There is also a meeting note-taker on Mac and Windows. The site mentions more than 100 languages, but not which; whether Dutch works well is best tested yourself with the free plan.
Transcription always happens in the cloud, not on your device. According to the privacy statement, your data goes to the US and is processed there. Wispr has agreements with AI providers that they store nothing. Whether your audio and texts are used to improve models is something you switch on or off yourself. Wispr mentions SOC 2 Type 2 and offers a BAA for health data, but the pricing page only mentions a data processing agreement (DPA) for Enterprise.
Good: works on all your devices and in any app, with a usable free plan.
Less good: everything goes through the cloud to the US, prices in dollars and no DPA for regular customers.
