What is Trustpilot?
Trustpilot is a public review platform from Trustpilot A/S in Copenhagen (Denmark). Anyone can write a review about your business; with a business account you claim your profile, invite customers and reply to reviews. With TrustBox widgets you show your score and reviews on your own site. Product reviews, location reviews and the API are separate modules.
For invitations you send through Trustpilot, Trustpilot is the processor and you are the controller. The data processing agreement (Data Processing Agreement for Businesses) is online, with a list of sub-processors. Trustpilot says it only transfers data outside the EEA and the UK with safeguards such as standard contractual clauses; it does not say where the data is stored.
Good: a free profile with invitations, a brand consumers know, and a data processing agreement for every business account.
Less good: paid plans are expensive for a small business and you are tied in for a year. Reviews are public, including the negative ones, and you do not decide what appears on your profile.
