What is Trengo?
Trengo is a shared inbox from Trengo B.V. in Utrecht. Messages from WhatsApp, email, website chat and social media come into one overview, where your team distributes and answers them. AI agents can handle questions themselves; you pay for those per conversation. You can use the app in Dutch: the API knows the language nl-NL, and according to the changelog the AI settings are also in Dutch.
According to the data processing agreement (Data Processing Addendum), which is an annex to the general terms, Trengo processes data in the EEA, with hosting on AWS, PlanetScale and Google Cloud among others at locations in the EU. A few subprocessors are in the US, such as OpenAI, and the terms allow transfers outside the EEA with standard contractual clauses.
Good: a Dutch company with an official WhatsApp integration, prices in euros and a data processing agreement that applies by default.
Less good: the entry plan costs €299 per month, so it is steep for a freelancer. Trengo does not mention Dutch-language support in so many words, and the length of the trial is not on the site.
